The recently released 2018 Social Security trustees' reportconfirmed the findings from a year ago -- that the trust funds, which currently hold about $2.9 trillion in reserves, are expected to run out in 2034, just 16 years from now. After this time, incoming revenue from payroll taxes and other sources will be enough to cover 77% of promised retirement benefits.
